London Calling

Les Paul

In the basement of the Hard Rock Cafe in London is a vault with many items of importance to Rock and Roll. Here is Les Paul's Les Paul guitar!

Hard Rock London

Of course we had to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe that started it all back in 1971.

Avebury

On the way from London to the ship's port in Southampton we stopped by Avebury, the largest ston ecircle in Europe. Larger and older than Stonehenge.

Downton Abbey

Next we stopped by the castle where Downton Abbey was filmed. Is is still a working castle.

Stonehenge

The most famous stone circle is Stonehenge because the Neolithic people of the Salisbury Plain had the audacity to stack some stones weighing several tons on top of the other stone. Cheeky!

Guernsey

We started the day with a private tour of Castle Cornet and stayed for the firing of the noon-day gun. Then we had lunch at the famous Ship and Crown.

Cork

We took the train from Cobh, where the ship was docked, to Cork and did a guided bicycle tour. Then we went to the English Market and ate at Farmhouse Cafe.

Dublin

We took the train from Dun Laoghaire, where the ship was anchored, to Dublin. First we visited Trinity College for a group tour and saw the Book of Kells. Next was Gallagher's Boxty House for lunch and then off to the Guinness Storehouse for a tour.

Belfast

We did a private tour of the Giant's Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Our driver said the rope bridge parking was closed to private vehicles so we just had him drop us off at the entrance and we walked down and back up afterwards. Everyone crossed the rope bridge! Then we visited the Titanic Belfast museum on the way back to the ship.

Luss Highland Games

After docking in Greenock, we had a private tour take us to Doune Castle (of Monty Python and Outlander fame) and then to the Luss Highland Games. Alicia made custom t-shirts for all of us. They were a big hit!

Loch Ness

After a day at sea we stoped at Invergordon and took a private car to Loch Ness to see if we sould spot "Nessie". Then we stoped by a local pub for a pint and some haggis and off to Cawdor Castle for a tour and to explore the gardens.

Edinburgh

It was a rainy, dreary day in Edinburgh.

Glasgow

Billy and I took the Central Scotland Rover train to Glasgow for a visit and lunch first. It was sunny on that side of Scotland.

Normandy

After docking in Le Havre, most of us took a private tour of the Normandy landing beaches.

Mont Saint Michel

Alicia, Christy, and Terri visited this amazing castle that is isolated by the high tide.

Windsor Castle

On the way from the ship to the airport, we dropped by Windsor Castle.
